Medium Density Overlay (MDO) Boards Create a Stunning Brand Message
Our team designed, manufactured, and installed two different MDO signs. The first we mounted to the roof, right above the entrance. It emphasizes the company’s name and lettering font. Besides that, it highlights the green and white brand colors that make the name stand out.
We produced a blade design for the second marker that we mounted underneath the roof overhang of the building’s side. There, it identifies the company with a shape that resembles a seal and underscores the logo’s individual elements. You will notice that it is not your typical round sign but rather a custom shape.
Combining these signs creates an attractive and practical wayfinding setup that begins a brand conversation with the consumer.
Is MDO Signage Right for You?
MDO refers to a plywood construction with a thickness of about three-quarter inches. The manufacturer applies a specialized resin fiber to the surfaces, which smooths the material and allows for painting and other treatments. Most business clients request that we use a router to identify the letters.

Other Signage Material Options
Of course, you do not have to select MDO if you have a different look and feel for your sign in mind.
- HDU. High-density urethane is a humanmade material that holds up well under California’s sun while also not offering the ever-present termites anything to snack on. We can use the router or sandblast the product for a truly visually stunning 3D design.
- Acrylic. Another product that is suitable for router design is the acrylic sheet. It is typically clear, which means that we can paint it in any color you like. Besides that, we could also use an imprinted vinyl overlay to display your corporate persona.
- Metal. That said, metal is a favorite among local business owners. Aluminum is lightweight and inexpensive, which makes it a good option for a building panel. Dibond is another excellent choice that creates the 3D display many business owners look for.
