Most monument signs we construct feature acrylic or aluminum. However, there is a movement toward bolder expressions with metals. Cases in point are the steel plate monument signs in SoCal that All Star Signs designed, produced, and installed.

Herman Construction Impresses with a Freestanding Steel Monument Sign

You know Herman Construction as the contractor known for its expertise and ability to take on even the most challenging builds. Located at 2060 Wineridge Place in Escondido, this client requested that our team would use steel plate to put together a monument. The client envisioned a slightly curved display that would follow the curvature of the wall that sits in the background.

Technicians went to work with quarter-inch-thick steel that we shaped, cut, and customized to meet the location’s specifications. Next, we gave the material a patina that artificially ages it. The logo portion displays as brushed steel to create a visual break. It is a good-looking sign that is so unusual that drivers cannot help but do a double-take.

The Old Poway Village Creates Ambiance with Steel Plate Signage

We have previously discussed our monument sign replacement for the shopping center. A deteriorating sign looked dated and could not appeal to a contemporary consumer base. The new product also consists of quarter-inch-thick steel plate that we artificially aged. In this case, we mounted it to a stained wooden board backing with hex head lag bolts that underscore the location’s ambiance.

Durability Combines with Versatility for Stunning Monument Signs

Two companies from different backgrounds selected monument signs using the same unusual material. Why?

  • Durability. Steel is about as durable a material as they come. It does not break. When you select stainless steel for your project, you inhibit rusting. We did something similar by adding a patina that mimics rust but is not, in fact, rust. When you are shopping for a sign that you can then forget about for a long time, this is it.
  • Creativity. Curved, freestanding signage? No problem! Straight signage mounted to a backing? We can do it! Are you envisioning a monument sign that echoes the look of a building sign? Once again, we can make it happen.
  • Versatility. The patina we added is only one example of the color play you might choose. Other options include metallic finishes that mimic copper patinas, colors, or a polished finish.

Metal is Not Just for the Outside of a Location Any Longer

The team at All Star Signs can manufacture scaled-down letters for a lobby sign or other interior signage solutions. If you have been considering letters that look the same inside or outside, scaling down the products is the best idea. Even if you do not want to replicate the complete company name, consider featuring a logo that connects the exterior to the interior.

If you have been considering making changes to your signage, we highly recommend steel plate monument signs in SoCal. They are contemporary, chic, and have superior durability.
